Britney Spears’ remarkable life story is getting the Lifetime treatment.

The network announced Wednesday that a Spears biopic currently titled Britney is on the way, tracking the pop star’s ascent from her Louisiana upbringing, to stardom, to the rocky late 2000s.

Natasha Bassett (Hail, Caesar!) will play the pop princess in the two-hour film.

Spears will not be contributing to the project “in any way, shape or form… nor does it have her blessing,“ Spears’ rep tells EW.

Spears has worked in entertainment since the early ’90s and broke out musically with …Baby One More Time in 1999. She achieved massive popularity, but endured massive tabloid attention for her relationship with *NSYNC’s Justin Timberlake, her short-lived marriage to a childhood friend, and her eventual nuptials to dancer Kevin Federline, and her personal struggles, all before rising back.

The Lifetime announcement comes just two days before the release of Spears’ ninth studio album, Glory. She will also perform at Sunday’s MTV VMAs. The show’s executive producer, Jesse Ignjatovic, is thrilled for what Spears has in store. “To have her in such great form with a huge hit, she’s super relevant and current — I think the young people watching MTV now are as connected to her as they were back in the TRL days,” he told EW.
