Explore the set of a peculiar world with its creator in a new behind-the-scenes sneak peek from the upcoming Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, where author Ransom Riggs takes a tour of the movie’s set ahead of the film’s upcoming release.

In the video, Riggs tours the Belgium set and sees the world he imagined brought to life. “[Director Tim Burton] took the ideas I had and made them bigger and vibrant and created a world you can lose yourself in,” he says of the visionary director, who brought classics like Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas to the silver screen.

“I love the way Tim Burton balances the playful with the dark,” he continues. The clip offers plenty of both: Viewers can see Miss Peregrine and her charges playing on the grounds along with glimpses at Samuel L. Jackson’s sinister Barron character and Riggs trying not to break topiary animals in the garden.

Watch the tour below. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children arrives in theaters Sept. 30.
