Benett/Dave Benett/Getty Images; Joe Raedle/Getty Images Legendary boxer and the subject of the upcoming film Hands of Stone, Roberto Durán won over 100 professional fights throughout his career, and while he retired in 2002, he wouldn’t mind his next opponent being Donald Trump. On Thursday during a Twitter Q&A with Durán and Edgar Ramirez, who portrays the boxer in Hands of Stone, Durán was asked who he would most like to step into the ring with today. The 65-year-old answered in Spanish, with Ramirez translating his response to, “He says he would like to step into the ring with Donald Trump to see how many Latin people, how many Latinos he’s going to deport and to see show really strong he is.” The Panama native went on to further explain he feels the disrespect toward his community has become a cultural war, so he would proudly do what he needed to defend his people. The Republican presidential candidate has come under fire for disparaging comments he’s made about Hispanics, including comments in June 2015, where he said that Mexican immigrants are “bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.” At last month’s Democratic National Convention, Eva Longoria responded to Trump’s comments in her speech, saying, “When Donald Trump calls us criminals and rapists, he’s insulting American families. My father is not a criminal or a rapist, in fact, he’s a United States veteran.” Hands of Stone, which also stars Robert De Niro and Usher, his theaters on Aug. 26.
