“What’s better than singing in the car?” Craig Robinson asks in the new trailer for Caraoke Showdown, his newly-announced Spike TV game show. The comedy star soon answers his own question: “Getting paid to sing in the car. And that’s exactly what I’m going to do.”

Originally presented as a standalone half-hour special, Spike TV has expanded the project into a full series, 10 episodes of which will film this summer throughout New York and Los Angeles.

Blending bits of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke segment with the competitive angle of the Discovery Channel’s popular Cash Cab series, Caraoke Showdown features unsuspecting contestants hailing a ride from Robinson, who takes them on a unique journey along which they must sing along to well-known tunes, complete the lyrics, and act out segments from hit songs for money. In addition to hosting, Robinson also serves as an executive producer.

Currently appearing on USA’s Mr. Robot, Robinson previously starred in NBC’s long-running comedy The Office. He’s also had roles in major motion pictures such as This Is the End and Pineapple Express, and recently won the Best Actor award at Sundance for his performance in Chad Hartigan’s Morris from America.

Howie Mandel is executive-producing the show alongside Alice Dickens-Koblin, Peter Herschko, and Brian Veskosky. CORE Media Group will also produce.

Caraoke Showdown is set to premiere on Spike TV in 2017, though a specific air date has yet to be announced.
