Donald Glover in talks to join 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

Looks like Donald Glover is going to be in a Spider-Man movie after all.

EW has learned Glover is in talks to join the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming, which stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker.

Glover is a longtime Spider-fan: Back when Sony was casting for The Amazing Spider-Man in 2010, the actor and his fans took to the Internet by storm with the hashtag #donald4spiderman, asking the studio to let him audition for the role. The movie part ultimately went to Andrew Garfield, but Glover did end up voicing the Miles Morales version of Spider-Man (a half-black, half-Latino teenager) in the animated series Ultimate Spider-Man.

His role in Homecoming is being kept under wraps. If Glover does sign on, he’ll join Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, and Michael Keaton as the unnamed villain. Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, and Michael Barbieri are also part of the cast, playing yet-to-be-announced roles.

Cop Car director Jon Watts is helming Homecoming for Sony and Marvel, and John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein wrote the script.

The Spider-Man news is just one more addition to Glover’s eclectic career, which includes starring as Troy on Community, rapping under the name Childish Gambino, and writing for 30 Rock. Last year, he appeared in The Martian and Magic Mike XXL.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7, 2017.
