On Tuesday night, Sigourney Weaver revealed she has not seen the Alien vs. Predator movies, the only two films in the proper Alien series which do not feature the actress. Weaver was responding to a question from the audience about her alleged dislike for the pair of franchise mash-up movies at a special “Alien Day” screening of James Cameron’s Aliens, the 1986 sequel to Ridley Scott’s original Alien.

“Well, I haven’t seen them,” said the actress of the two AVP films. “Because I heard that the Alien doesn’t beat the Predator and I thought, ‘F— that.'”

Weaver also discussed the Alien movie she is hoping to make with her Chappie director Neill Blomkamp, reportedly a direct sequel to Aliens which will ignore the existence of the two subsequent entries in the franchise.

“It’s going to be very satisfying,” said the actress. “After [Alien: Resurrection], it was all going to end up on Earth and I didn’t want to end up on Earth. It seemed so mundane to me, compared to the beauty of space. So, we kind of just left the whole story hanging and [it] always felt a little incomplete to me. And so, when Neill Blomkamp started to talk to me about a sequel to this movie, I thought, ‘Gosh, that would be so great, to know that Ripley has a resting place eventually, and wouldn’t it be great to end the series like that.’ Not that the other two didn’t happen. I love them all. But the filmmaker has to be inspired by what he is inspired by, and what he grew up with, and I think [Neill] wore the tapes out of Alien and Aliens. Anyway, we’ll see what happens.”

Finally, Weaver spoke warmly of her Aliens costar Michael Biehn and of his character, space marine Corporal Hicks, who she made clear would be appearing in Blomkamp’s film.

“He’s such a great guy, Michael,” said the actress. “And he’s so wonderful in this part. I think the part of Hicks is just a beautifully-written part, this very cool marine with great heart, and strength, and intelligence.”

You can see both Weaver and Biehn in the trailer for Aliens, below.
