David Fincher is returning to the subject of serial killers.

The Zodiac and Seven director is developing a new series for Netflix titled Mindhunter. Charlize Theron may star in the potential series, and she will also executive-produce along with Fincher.

The series was previously in the works at HBO and is based on the book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, by former special agents John Douglas and Mark Olshaker. Douglas hunted notorious serial killers and often interviewed them after capture to develop profiling methods. Several FBI profiler characters in pop culture, such as Will Graham on Hannibal, are based on his work.

If the project makes it to air (Fincher’s recent HBO dramas in the pipeline Video Synchronicity and Utopia have been put into development purgatory), the project will join Netflix’s flagship Fincher drama, House of Cards.

EW first emailed a Netflix representative about the project earlier this month. Deadline then broke the story Tuesday. Netflix has not replied on the matter.
