Sesame Street on HBO: Best Twitter reactions to the news

HBO: Home to Game of Thrones, True Detective, and as of Thursday, Sesame Street.

The show spelled out the deal in a tweet (or rather, T-W-E-E-T):

In other words, the long-running edutainment program will hit the cable network free of charge for the next five seasons, with new episodes of Sesame Street set to start airing across HBO’s platforms as early as this fall, thanks to a partnership between the two. The non-profit Sesame Workshop, which has produced the series since its beginning, now has HBO’s financial backing to produce twice as many episodes as it has in previous seasons, according to a joint statement. And in turn, HBO can now integrate children’s programming into its slate of mostly adult-oriented shows, something its competitors (think Netflix and Amazon) have been doing for a while.

Of course, this also means Twitter had plenty of fodder to work with for jokes and mash-ups of Sesame Street with shows like Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, and True Detective. Below, we’ve rounded up the best we’ve seen:
