Jon Stewart thanks Donald Trump for presidential run

If Jon Stewart ever needed a reason to stick around The Daily Show—or, at the very least, start up his own Twitter account—Donald Trump just gave it to him.

An absolutely giddy Stewart dedicated his opening act Tuesday’s episode of The Daily Show to the candidates entering the 2016 presidential race, but mostly used the time to cover Trump’s presidential bid.

Stewart could barely contain himself as “America’s id” announced his plans to run, dissecting everything from Trump’s entrance on an escalator (“Stair Force One”) to the spit gathering in the corner of Trump’s mouth during the speech.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like even Trump will be enough to keep Stewart around on the show, as he’s sticking to his Aug. 6 final show date. But at the very least, Stewart will have no shortage of material for this final run if last night’s show was any indication.

“Thank you Donald Trump for making my last six weeks, my best six weeks,” he said. “He is putting me in some kind of comedy hospice where all I’m getting is just straight morphine.”
