He’ll join Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and others in DC Comics’ 2016 Suicide Squad film. The movie about an all-star collection of baddies is being directed by David Ayer (Fury, End of Watch) and will be released by Warner Bros. The rapper’s role remains unknown. [The Hollywood Reporter] That’s not the only gig Common picked up Wednesday. He, Nick Robinson, and Morgan Saylor were tapped to head up Rob Reiner‘s next directorial project, Being Charlie. Robinson plays the titular teen, who busts out of a youth drug treatment facility. He’s subsequently forced to go to an adult one by his folks, where he finds an intriguing cohabitant in Eva. Cary Elwes, Devon Bostick, Susan Misner, and Ricardo Chavira were also added. The film, a Castle Rock Entertainment and Jorva Entertainment project, is currently in production in Salt Lake City. [The Hollywood Reporter] Antoine Fuqua‘s The Magnificent Seven added another one to the bunch. Wagner Moura joins Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, and Haley Bennett in the reboot of the 1960 western. Moura will play one of the leading seven, as a character named Vasquez. MGM’s project was written by John Lee Hancock and True Detective mastermind Nic Pizzolatto. The Brazilian will also play Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar in the upcoming Netflix series Narcos. [The Hollywood Reporter] Beau Mirchoff and Alexa PenaVega, meet Edgar Allen Poe. The two have been cast in Tell-Tale Lies, a modern reimagining of Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart set at a well-regarded university. Colin Theys directs John Doolan‘s script. The film is being produced by Synthetic Cinema International and Stargazer Films. Renee Olstead, Michael J. Willett, Bailey De Young, Sara Kapner, Ethan Phillips, Anthony Del Negro, Sean Patrick Thomas, and John Heard are also in the cast. [Deadline]
