USA just announced that it has officially picked up the pilot of Colony, which is described as a “naturalistic drama about a family torn by opposing forces and making difficult choices as they balance staying together with surviving the struggle of the human race.” The show will be set in Los Angeles in the near future, only this Los Angeles exists in a “state of occupation by a force of outside intruders.” “Colony is a gripping story that brilliantly weaves together an intense family drama in an authentic, yet unknown, world,” USA Network President Chris McCumber said in a press release. “We are pleased to be in business with Ryan Condal and Carlton Cuse, who is clearly one of the best in the industry when it comes to genre fiction.” The pilot was written and is executive produced by both Cuse and Condal.
