Some habits are hard to kick: cigarettes, a bad diet, jumping out of airplanes.

USA Today reports that former president George H.W. Bush went skydiving Thursday to celebrate the arrival of his 90th birthday–the same way he marked years 80 and 85. Aided by an ex-military jumper, Bush touched down near his home in Maine around 11:15 am.

On the ground, the former president was greeted by his son, former president George W. Bush, and other family members. The feat was the 41st president’s eighth jump. He made his first on Sept. 2, 1944 — after the Japanese shot down his fighter plane over the Pacific. Bush’s granddaughter, Jenna Bush Hager, first announced his plans on the Today Show, where she is a contributor.

Reconfirming the fact he’s cooler that you will ever be at 90, former president Bush also sent out a casual tweet before the event.

Think his socks had little parachutes on them?
