The Hollywood Bowl’s yearly A-list musical production has cobbled together another star-packed cast for this year’s mounting of Hair, directed and choreographed by Adam Shankman.

Kristen Bell (Frozen) will lead the cast as Sheila, alongside Hunter Parrish (Weeds) as Claude, Amber Riley (Glee) as Dionne, Jenna Ushkowitz (Glee) as Jeanie, and Beverly D’Angelo (who starred in the 1979 film version of Hair) as Mom. Shankman’s Instagram announcement also includes Broadway vet Benjamin Walker, recording artist Mario, and 2 Broke Girls star Beth Behrs among the cast.

The entire production will play three performances on Aug. 1, 2, and 3 at the Hollywood Bowl. Recent musicals at the Bowl include Chicago with Ashlee Simpson and Drew Carey, Rent with Vanessa Hudgens and Nicole Scherzinger, Hairspray with John Stamos and Nick Jonas, and The Producers with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Richard Kind, and Rebecca Romijn.

Packed with songs like “Aquarius,” “Good Morning Starshine,” and “I Got Life,” Hair remains one of Broadway’s most groundbreaking musicals, linking musical theater with the 1960s hippie counterculture in a way that has earned the show synonymy with the decade when it comes to the stage.

Nudity TBD.
