WGN's 'Manhattan' teaser: 'Secrets destroy everything you love'

WGN America is taking viewers back to another part of history — this time without witches — in Manhattan, an original series about the race to the build the first atomic bomb in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Here’s the show in a nutshell, as summarized in this exclusive teaser: “In war, secrets save lives. At home, secrets destroy everything you love.”

John Benjamin Hickey (The Big C) stars a Frank Winter, a self-destructive professor who is commissioned to help lead the Manhattan Project. Olivia Williams (Dollhouse) plays his wife, Liza Winter, a botanist with a past. Daniel Stern (Home Alone), Ashley Zukerman (Rush), and Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards) also star.

WGN has ordered 13 episodes of Manhattan, to air this July. The show is written and created by Sam Shaw (Masters of Sex) and directed by Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing).

The network’s first original series, Salem — about the 17th century witch trials — debuts Sunday, April 20 at 10 p.m. ET. This Manhattan teaser will air during the premiere.
