Valeria Lukyanova is from Ukraine. 3.) Valeria Lukyanova likes to live her life as a human barbie. In a world full of tummy-tucked and botox-ed out Housewives and Joan Rivers look-alikes, it’s safe to say that we live in a society where people will do whatever it takes to achieve the level of “beauty” that they want. So when Lukyanova, or “Odessa Barbie,” first made waves and became an internet sensation, I thought Wow, that image will haunt me forever, but at least she’s happy! However, after recently seeing a trailer for a VICE documentary about Lukyanova, my thought quickly transformed into What the f—? You see, Lukyanova is not actually a Barbie (no duh). But she’s really from outer space? and is “a time-traveling spiritual guru whose purpose is to save the world from the clutches of superficiality and negative energy”? according to VICE.
