EW's editorial guidelines Published on June 26, 2013 01:00PM EDT Photo: MTV It’s been about three years since viewers said goodbye to MTV’s groundbreaking reality hit The Hills. In the series finale, Kristin Cavallari (who had replaced previous star Lauren Conrad at that point), seemed to drive away from her on-again, off-again boyfriend Brody Jenner and into a new, camera-less future. But then it was revealed that Brody and Kristen were actually shooting all of this on a backlot, a play by the producers on rumors that The Hills wasn’t real. But fans may get an even more satisfying resolution this summer: EW can exclusively reveal that MTV will air a different, alternate ending to The Hills on Friday, August 9, at 11:30 a.m. ET. It’s all part of the return of “RetroMTVBrunch,” which beginning July 8 at 9 a.m. ET and will feature encore presentations of both Laguna Beach and The Hills. Then, starting July 10, the marathons will air from 8 a.m. ET till noon ET. In between the airings, castmembers from MTV’s Girl Code and Awkward. will be providing commentary on the classic reality soaps.
