Cedric will snip again in ''Barbershop'' sequel. He'll reprise his role as the controversial hairstylist

Shh, don’t tell Jesse Jackson. Variety reports that Cedric the Entertainer plans to reprise his role as Eddie, the trash-talking hairstylist, in a sequel to ”Barbershop.” It was Eddie’s controversial put-downs of such civil-rights leaders as Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, and Jackson that led to protests by Jackson and others against the hit comedy — and to counterprotests by some barbers against Jackson.

MGM gave the sequel a greenlight last fall, shortly after the $12 million movie became a surprise $76 million hit. Cedric, however, is the first of the original film’s leading players to re-up; according to Variety, star Ice Cube and others have been holding out for raises. Other than Cedric, it’s still not clear which, if any, of the original’s stars (including Eve, Sean Patrick Thomas, Anthony Anderson, Keith David, and Troy Garity) will return to the salon.
