Filmed at Britain’s Pinewood Studios between its London and NYC runs, the video highlights the musical’s overwrought staging and over-dramatic performances. Among the sinners is Carter, the only one of the vid’s lead players who appeared in the U.K. and Broadway productions. His beatific son of God proves no vocal match for Judas (Pradon), nor does this incarnation compare to Norman Jewison’s much more powerful 1973 film version.
