TV Article Candyman By Ty Burr Ty Burr Ty Burr is a former senior writer at Entertainment Weekly. He left EW in 2002. EW's editorial guidelines Published on March 19, 1993 05:00AM EST This grisly little shocker (from an even creepier short story by executive producer Clive Barker) is actually pretty realistic for a horror flick. It concerns a demonic boogeyman who stalks the halls of notorious Chicago housing project Cabrini Green and features top-flight performances by Madsen and Vanessa Williams (the one who’s not the ex-Miss America). Candyman is a bit poky, though: Horror mavens may check out before the gore hits the fan, and the squeamish will bail when it does. Not for fans of the Sammy Davis Jr. song. C+
