Oscar nominees for best supporting actress: Ariana Grande, Zoe Saldaña among hopefuls
The Academy Awards are on Sunday and one breakout performance is about to win the Oscar for best supporting actress.
The category for best actress in a supporting role has previously gone to stars from Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett and Lupita Nyong’o and of course, Meryl Streep.
This year's nominees include two-time Grammy winning pop star Ariana Grande, who received her first Oscar nod after playing Glinda in the musical adaption "Wicked" opposite Cynthia Erivo.
Yet the category frontrunner is Zoe Saldaña, who has dominated award seasons for her role as Rita Mora Castro in musical thriller "Emilia Pérez." The "Avatar" actor has took home wins at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, the BAFTA's and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
