The polls are open! Vote for the Sun-News Athlete of the Week for Nov. 11-16 — 10 choices

The Las Cruces Sun-News will nominate several athletes for its Athlete of the Week award every week. The winner is decided by you, the readers. The award highlights the best performances from Las Cruces-area schools from the previous week. This week, there are ten nominees from Las Cruces, Mayfield and Centennial.

Everyone is encouraged to submit nominations to [email protected] for each week. The poll closes on Thursday and is located at the bottom of this page. There are no voting restrictions, so vote now and vote often.

Here are this week's nominations:

QB Zaiden Davis (Centennial football)

Davis scored multiple touchdowns in a 43-17 playoff win over Rio Rancho Friday.

WR Jordan Lucas (Centennial football)

Lucas scored points and blocked well against Rio Rancho Friday, according to Hawks coach Aaron Ocampo.

S Mychael Ortiz (Centennial football)

Ortiz earned an interception against Rio Rancho Friday.

RB Daniel Amaro (Las Cruces football)

Amaro scored both of the Bulldawgs' touchdowns in a 17-3 playoff win Friday against Volcano Vista.

LB Denton Walter (Las Cruces football)

Walter snagged an interception and recorded a sack against Volcano Vista Friday.

QB Luke Linnan (Mayfield football)

Linnan scored a 15-yard rushing touchdown in a 21-7 playoff win over Deming Friday.

RB Anthony Nevarez (Mayfield football)

Nevarez scored a 25-yard rushing touchdown against Deming Friday.

Addison Massey (Las Cruces volleyball)

Massey recorded 16 kills and 11 digs in the 5A state championship game against La Cueva Saturday.

Ava Price (Las Cruces volleyball)

Price also scored 11 digs against La Cueva Saturday.

Sydney Pipkin (Las Cruces volleyball)

Pipkin earned 33 assists against La Cueva Saturday.
