Indiana Pacers vs Miami Heat: Prediction, picks, injury updates and odds

Scott Horner Dustin Dopirak
Indianapolis Star

The Indiana Pacers will host the Miami Heat twice this weekend − on Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at 7 p.m. ET, and at 5 p.m. ET Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024.

The Pacers' (5-6) depleted depth showed in the fourth quarter against Orlando, which surged to a double-digit lead and clamped down on their tired starters late. Bennedict Mathurin continued his hot stretch with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

The Heat (4-6) are coming off a strange overtime loss to the Detroit Pistons. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra called a timeout when Miami didn't have any remaining with 1 second left in OT, allowing the Pistons to make the go-ahead free throw. Miami's Tyler Herro made three 3-pointers in the final 1:30 of regulation to rally from a 9-point deficit.

Pacers vs Heat prediction, picks

Dustin Dopirak, IndyStar: Pacers 112-105

The Pacers have been alternating strong performances at home with ugly ones on the road, so maybe they're due for a win. They have the good fortune of playing a Miami team that will be missing six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler, but the Heat still create plenty of problems. Tyler Herro has been on a scoring bender, averaging 24.9 points per game this season and scoring 40 in Tuesday's loss to Detroit. Bam Adebayo remains one of the NBA's best all-around defensive centers, and he's an offensive threat, too. Going to guess that the Pacers make shots in Gainbridge Fieldhouse, but they'll need a high-level performance from Tyrese Haliburton.
