 Definición del TDL
1. SEGÚN EL DSM-V

Dificultades persistentes en la adquisición y uso del lenguaje en todas sus modalidades (es decir, hablado, escrito, lenguaje de
signos u otro) debido a deficiencias de la comprensión o la producción que incluye lo siguiente:

⮚ Vocabulario reducido (conocimiento y uso de palabras).

⮚ Estructura gramatical limitada (capacidad para situar las palabras y las terminaciones de palabras juntas para formar frases
basándose en reglas gramaticales y morfológicas).
⮚ Deterioro del discurso (capacidad para usar vocabulario y conectar frases para explicar o describir un tema o una serie de
sucesos o tener una conversación).

Las capacidades de lenguaje están notablemente y desde un punto de vista cuantificable por debajo de lo esperado para la edad, lo
que produce limitaciones funcionales en la comunicación eficaz, la participación social, los logros académicos o el desempeño
laboral, de forma individual o en cualquier combinación.

El inicio de los síntomas se produce en las primeras fases del período de desarrollo.

Las dificultades no se pueden atribuir a un deterioro auditivo o sensorial de otro tipo, a una disfunción motora o a otra afección
médica o neurológica y no se explica mejor por discapacidad intelectual (trastorno del desarrollo intelectual) o retraso global del
desarrollo.

1. SEGÚN LA ASHA

“un trastorno de lenguaje es la anormal adquisición, comprensión o expresión del lenguaje hablado o escrito. El problema puede
implicar a todos, uno o algunos de los componentes fonológico, morfológico, semántico, sintáctico o pragmático del sistema
lingüístico.

Los individuos con trastornos del lenguaje tienen frecuentemente problemas de procesamiento del lenguaje o abstracción de la
información significativa para almacenamiento y recuperación por la memoria a corto o a largo plazo”.
