VERB ‘CAN’ (verbo CAN)

EXPLICACIÓN:

● El verbo auxiliar/modal CAN indica habilidad, lo que se puede o no hacer.

Ejemplo: Yo puedo correr. (I CAN run), Él no puede saltar (He can´t jump.)

● The auxiliary/modal CAN has the same form regardless the subject. There is no -s
in the 3rd person singular. USAMOS CAN PARA TODOS LOS SUJETOS. Ejemplos:
I can play the piano. She can drive. We can ride a bike.

● The auxiliary/modal CAN is used with a main verb in its infinitive. It can be
used alone in short answers. USAMOS EL VERBO CAN UNIDO A UN VERBO
PRINCIPAL (She can dance.). TAMBIÉN LO PODEMOS USAR SOLO EN
RESPUESTAS CORTAS (Yes, I can.)

● There is no contracted form of can in affirmative sentences. NO PODEMOS

CONTRAER LA FORMA AFIRMATIVA “CAN”.

● La forma negativa de CAN es CANNOT o podemos contraerla usando CAN¨T.

Vamos a usar CAN´T + verbo en infinitivo para TODOS los SUJETOS. Ejemplos:
We can´t fly. Mary can´t play tennis.

PRESTA MUCHA ATENCIÓN A LA CONJUGACIÓN DEL VERBO “CAN” EN ESTE
