Anteriormente han sido aislados cultivos puros de bacterias capaces de degradar compuestos
xenobióticos bajo condiciones aerobias o anaerobias. Entre las principales bacterias aerobias
se encuentran Pseudomonas, Escherichia, Sphingobium, Pandoraea, Rhodococcus, Gordonia,
Bacillus, Morazella and Micrococcus (Varsha et al., 2011), mientras que bajo condiciones
anaerobias se han identificado bacterias como Clostridia, Desulfobacterium, Desulfovibrio,
Methanococcus, Methanosarcina, Dehalococcoides, Flavobacterium and Klebsiella (Zhang y
Bennett, 2005).
