During COYA’s recent expedition to Peru, our team had the privilege of visiting BERROCAL, our long-term partner and the artisans behind COYA’s beautifully crafted interiors. This family-owned business, led by the talented founders Rubèn Berrocal Sr. and Rubèn Berrocal Jr. embodies the essence of Peruvian craftsmanship. Partnered with COYA and First Within Designs for their intricate artistry, Berrocal is also certified by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), ensuring that the quality and social responsibility of their handmade creations align with our ethical standards. #COYA’s original interiors highlight the richness of #Peruvian craftsmanship and its ancient techniques creating a unique aesthetic. Meet MJ D.e Guzman, a talented chef whose journey with #COYA began in September 2016 as a Demi Chef De Partie at COYA #Dubai. His talent and work ethic were quickly recognised, leading to a transfer to COYA #AbuDhabi in February 2017. This move marked the beginning of MJ's remarkable growth with us. By June 2018, his dedication and culinary skills earned him a promotion to Chef De Partie. His ability to adapt, learn, and lead was evident, and by November 2019, he rose to the position of Senior Chef De Partie. In July 2021, MJ took on the role of Junior Sous Chef, where he played a key role in mentoring his team and driving innovation in the kitchen. His continued growth and contributions led to his promotion to Sous Chef in August 2022, a testament to his hard work and the opportunities for advancement that COYA offers. And he continues to bring creativity and leadership to the kitchen, pushing the boundaries of culinary excellence at COYA. MJ’s journey is a prime example of how COYA nurtures talent and fosters growth, providing a platform for passionate individuals to rise through the ranks.
