As per PTI report, this incident is similar to a blast that occurred outside a CRPF school in the same area last month. However, police stated that this latest explosion was of much lower intensity and happened near Bansi sweet shop. They stated that it is too early to establish a direct connection between the two events.
Senior police officials, including Additional Commissioner of Police Rajeev Ranjan, have arrived at the scene to oversee the investigation.
Eyewitness Krishna Kumar Gupta, who goes to the park every day at 11:30 AM, told to Jagran.com that the explosion was sudden and very loud. Some thought it was a tyre burst or a bomb, but the cause is not clear. He saw a lot of smoke and dust but reported no major damage to vehicles or hawkers nearby. A tempo driver sustained minor injuries near the park gate.

Last month, a significant explosion damaged the wall of the CRPF school in Prashant Vihar, causing widespread panic but resulting in no injuries. Authorities had initially suspected a crude bomb as the cause, although later investigations suggested it might have been ignited by discarded cigarette butts igniting industrial waste in a nearby dump.
