Repeat
an entire pattern that is repeated over and over again in a fabric weave or knit, in embroidery, or in a carpet. The order in which the yarns are woven is usually repeated along both the width and the length of the fabric in each subsequent repeat. The number of warp yarns after which all the preceding weaves of the warp yarns begin to be repeated in the previous order is called the warp repeat; similarly, there is a weft repeat. A rectangle composed of warp and weft yarns, the number of which is equal to the corresponding repeats, is called the repeat of the fabric’s weave.
Repeat
in music, the repetition of any section of a work. Perhaps the most important are various three-part repeat structures, in which the first statement of a section is separated from its repetition by a section of a different character. The identical repeat is often used with the varied repeat.
