The objective of this study was to develop an ecological niche model (ENM) with an appropriate threshold value that could best identify potential range expansion of the invasive
eastern gray squirrel, Sciurus carolinensis (EGS) within California and in the future, project potential areas of overlap with congeners.
Two rodent species (
eastern gray squirrel and chipmunk) were active primarily diurnally, with the exceptions being crepuscular.
In the
eastern gray squirrel, the spring molt is completed by late May or early June, and the autumn molt begins in early to mid-October (Sharp, 1958).
The occurrence, frequency, and position of bridging fracture calluses, bone misalignments, bone-surface perforations, and localized superficial calluses indicating healed fractures were examined in skeletons of 91
eastern gray squirrels (54 female, 37 male) in the Georgia College recent mammal collection.
Medium and large mammals (size range of common muskrat, Ondatra zibethicus, and
eastern gray squirrel, Sciurus carolinensis, to white-tailed deer, Odocoileus virginianus, and bison, Bison bison) were assessed at Shelby Farms Park during the summer and fall of 2010.
Several hundred years ago, deep in the ancient virgin forests of the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, an
eastern gray squirrel forgot where he buried an acorn.
Wildlife fecal samples were collected from white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus), American beaver (Castor canadensis), northern raccoon (Procyon lotor), Virginia opossum (Didelphis virginiana), and
eastern gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) in addition to fecal samples from domestic cows (Bos taurus) and horses (Equus caballus).

Abstract.--The goals of this study were to map the distribution of the invasive
eastern gray squirrel, Sciurus carolinensis, in California as of 2015 and to assess range expansion since the first documented sightings within the state.
All other species detected over the course of this study showed no evidence of seasonal shifts in levels of temporal activity, which was consistent with previous findings of seasonal activity in coyote (Way et al., 2004),
eastern gray squirrel in some scenarios (Parker et al., 2014), but not with previous reports of white-tailed deer seasonal activity (Beier and McCullough, 1990).
They believe that wildlife exists only in Africa and the rainforests, and that all animals - including the prolific
eastern gray squirrel nd whitetail deer - are endangered.
Another example of range expansion showing both contiguous and noncontiguous modes has been provided for the
Eastern Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis, hereafter known as EGS) in the United Kingdom (Bertolino et al.
