This deformation phase is defined by actinolite, chlorite and muscovite in the greenschists (Figures 3a y 3b), by hornblende in the hornblende schists (Figure 3c) and the amphibolites (Figure 3e), by chlorite, muscovite and graphite in quartz-muscovite-chlorite schists or mica schists (Figures 3h and 30, and by hornblende and
anthophyllite in the
anthophyllite schists (Figure 3j).
A large number of contaminants was expected for C-[Na.sup.+], but contamination of ME-100 by
anthophyllite and gypsum was not.
Crocidolite is a hydrated silicate of sodium and iron, amosite is a monoclinic silicate of iron and magnesium,
anthophyllite is a magnesium iron silicate of low aluminium content, tremolite is a hydrated calcium magnesium silicate, and actinolite is a monoclinic calcium magnesium iron member of the amphibole group.
Those businesses have been fighting to remove certain forms of three asbestos-like minerals -- tremolite,
anthophyllite and actinolite, collectively known as AT&A -- from the tough asbestos standard established by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in 1972.
Five varieties of amphiboles are known:
anthophyllite, amosite, tremolite, crocidolite, and actinolite (Virta, 2002).
Epidemiological evidence has increasingly shown an association of all forms of asbestos (chrysotile, crocidolite, amosite, tremolite, actinolite, and
anthophyllite) with an increased risk of lung cancer and mesothelioma.
More DPF cases than asbestosis cases were found to contain noncommercial amphibole fibers (tremolite, actinolite, and
anthophyllite), although the asbestosis cases that harbored noncommercial amphiboles did so in higher concentrations.
The metamorphosed alteration zones are characterized by the presence of various combinations of
anthophyllite, cordierite, garnet, staurolite, biotite and/ or andalusite.
binapacryl; DNOC and its salts; ethylene dichloride; ethylene oxide; monocrotophos; parathion; toxaphene and dustable powder formulations containing a combination of benomyl at or above 7 per cent, carbofuran at or above 10% and thiram at or above 15%; actinolite asbestos;
anthophyllite asbestos; amosite asbestos; tremolite asbestos; tetraethyl lead and tetramethyl lead; parathion; and chrysotile asbestos.
Anthophyllite and tremolite, both present in small amounts, formed after the primary silicates and ore minerals.
