Soviet-Bangladesh Agreements
Diplomatic relations were established between the USSR and Bangladesh on Jan. 25, 1972. Two agreements were signed on Mar. 2, 1972—on economic and technical cooperation and on the delivery of various equipment as a gift to the people and government of Bangladesh and the provision of other types of free assistance. A joint declaration of Mar. 3, 1972, set a trend for the expansion of relations and led the way for cooperation in various fields. Agreements were signed on trade (Mar. 31, 1972), cultural and scientific cooperation (Dec. 19, 1972), and air transportation (Aug. 23, 1973).
