Sovetakan Karabakh

 

(Soviet Karabakh), an Armenian-language oblast newspaper of the Nagorno-Karabakh AO, Azerbaijan SSR. Founded in 1923, it was originally called Karabakhigekhchuk (The Karabakh Peasant), and subsequently Khorurdain Karabakh. It acquired its present name in 1940. Sovetakan Karabakh is published six times a week in Stepanakert. Circulation, 15,000 (1975). The newspaper was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor in 1973.
