Sonsón
a city in Colombia, in the department of Antioquia; situated on the slopes of the Cordillera Central. Population, approximately 15,000. Sonsón is the center of a mining region producing silver, gold, and iron ore. It is also the center of an agricultural region specializing in the cultivation of coffee, sugarcane, grains, and fruits and the raising of livestock. The city has enterprises for processing coffee and producing mining equipment. Sonsón was founded in 1785.
