Savona
a city and port in northern Italy, on the Gulf of Genoa of the Ligurian Sea; capital of Savona Province, Liguria. Population, 79,600 (1971). The port of Savona had a freight turnover of approximately 12 million tons in 1972. Industry includes metallurgy, machine building, electrical engineering, and the production of chemicals and construction materials.
