Wing Ding

Wing Ding, as of 2014, has returned as an annual concert held by WXRX 104.9 FM, in Rockford, Illinois, during Memorial Day weekend, that started years ago as a chicken wing competition but later evolved into a full blown rock concert. It started in 1993. Notable bands that have played over the years are Shinedown, Seether, Saliva, Breaking Benjamin, Nickelback, Three Doors Down, Three Days Grace, Buckcherry, Hinder, Black Stone Cherry and many others.

2014

It has been announced that Wing Ding will return May 25, 2014 to the Rockford Speedway. Gates open at 11, music at noon.

2009

The 16th annual Wing Ding took place on May 24, 2009 at The Bell Bowl at the Chicago Rockford International Airport in Rockford, IL. The guest host was Coolio. Wing Ding was cancelled until further notice after the 2009 show.

The 15th annual Wing Ding took place on May 25, 2008 at the Rockford Speedway. Tone Lōc made a special appearance to play a few songs.

2007

The 14th annual Wing Ding took place on May 27, 2007 at the Rockford Speedway, and was sponsored by Hooters. Early estimates show that roughly 20,000 people came to Wing Ding this year, which is roughly 8,000 more than 2006. Admission was only $10.
