SEOUL, March 5 (Yonhap) -- SK Telecom Co. said Wednesday that it has partnered with France-based automation and energy management company Schneider Electric as part of its strategies to secure technologies for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers through global collaborations.

On the sidelines of the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, SK Telecom signed a strategic partnership deal with Schneider Electric to collaborate on mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems for AI data centers, according to SK Telecom.

Through this partnership, the two companies plan to develop hyperscale AI data centers in key regions of South Korea, and expand collaboration across the entire MEP sector.

SK Telecom expects the partnership to generate significant synergies by combining its expertise in AI data centers and Schneider Electric's capabilities in MEP systems and data center management.

"Our partnership with Schneider Electric, one of the world's leading AIDC (AI data center) solution providers, will not only strengthen SK Telecom's competitiveness in AI data centers but also accelerate our global expansion," said Ryu Young-sang, CEO of SK Telecom.

Additionally, SK Telecom signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Giga Computing Technology Co., a network solutions unit of Taiwanese computer hardware company Gigabyte Technology Co., and SK Enmove Co., a chemical unit under SK Group, to co-develop next-generation cooling technology for AI data centers.

SK Telecom said it aims to leverage this global technology collaboration to strengthen its capabilities in designing and operating next-generation cooling technologies that minimize power and heat at AI data centers.

In the long term, SK Telecom plans to integrate these cooling technologies into SK Group's AI data center solution packages.
