Usage notes
[edit]- (law): The order of homicidal crimes in current Finnish legislation[1] —by how aggravated they are considered— is the following with the least aggravated being first:
- kuolemantuottamus (“negligent homicide, involuntary manslaughter”)
- surma (“killing, (voluntary) manslaughter under mitigating circumstances”)
- tappo (“voluntary manslaughter”)
- murha (“murder, voluntary manslaughter under aggravating circumstances, premeditated and/or brutal”)
- If negligent homicide is caused by gross neglect, it is called törkeä kuolemantuottamus (“grossly negligent homicide”).
