[edit]Via German Physik and Latin physica from Ancient Greek φυσική (phusikḗ, “natural science”), a nominalization of the adjective φυσικός (phusikós, “natural”), derived from the noun φύσις (phúsis, “nature”). In the sense "physique", it is borrowed from French physique m.
