[edit]From Aramaic קצבא / ܩܰܨܳܒܳܐ (qaṣṣābā, “butcher”). The verb قَصَبَ (qaṣaba, “to cut up”) and a root ق ص ب (q-ṣ-b) are from this noun.
Cognate with Hebrew קצב (katsáv).
