Cycling

@Ground Zero, Pashley: I just read this article which in summary highlights the extreme anti-cyclist stances in Etobicoke. I'm not sure if this is a one-off incident (in which case is not necessary to mention in "Stay safe"/"Get in") or if the community itself is very anti-cyclist. Would you both consider it necessary to add a warning about cycling in Etobicoke or not really? --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 08:48, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

BlogTO is clickbait, not real journalism. Cycling is the suburbs is always more challenging than in city centres, but Etobicoke is not unique in that. (What is unique is that the "k" and final "e" are silent in "Etobicoke".) Bike Share Toronto has lots of locations in Etobicoke.
I do not subscribe to the idea that Wikivoyage is here to warn readers about every possible inconvenience or risk in the world. There are some poorly maintained roads in Etobicoke, some drivers will park at the side of the road and open their doors without checking for cyclists, some will drive aggressively, or turn right while looking left, but this is not unique to Etobicoke.
