Najib Razak

Najib Razak (born July 23, 1953) is a Malaysian politician who served as the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia from 2009 until 2018. During his tenure from 2009 to 2018, he was implicated in the misappropriation of billions of dollars from the state investment fund, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). This led to numerous charges of corruption and money laundering against him. The scandal severely damaged Malaysia's international reputation and played a key role in Najib's electoral defeat in 2018. In 2020, he was convicted on several charges related to the scandal.
