User:SuperWIKI/sandbox/State deans (4)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For senators and representatives who represented defunct parties or switched parties intra-term, only their latest party while in office is reflected. Most states, due to not having long-running deans until the 1900s, have tables only starting from that decade.

Guidelines

[edit]

Checklist

[edit]
  • Check all dates (Congress sessions, individual terms, deanships, ayds)
  • Check seniority (shared seniority, alphabetical precedence, combined House and Senate tenures, causes of departure)
  • Check numbered seniority (if death caused seniority to go up independent of list number)

Seniority criteria

[edit]
  • Number of consecutive terms (for speed, use seniority date)
  • Number of past, non-consecutive terms
  • Alphabetical order of surname (if more than two people fulfill same seniority after above criteria, use individual with earliest surname in alphabet)
  • For Representatives elected to fill vacancy, seniority is calculated from date of special election. Column-wise (Congress), at-large representatives use the date they were sworn in.
