[edit]Since the Portal Guidelines have been downgraded to the status of an information page and we have no real portal guidelines, we should use common sense, which is discussed in Wikipedia in the essay section Use Common Sense and in the article common sense, which [Special:PrefixIndex/Portal:Alternative rock] shows 20 selected albums, 25 selected articles, 17 selected pictures, 5 DYKs, and other pages. A spot-check of less than all of the articles shows that the articles checked were all content-forked in 2007, and that there was a page move in 2011 due to a portal renaming, and that there was a stylistic edit in 2018. Some were tweaked between 2011 and 2018, mostly in 2013 or 2015. There appears to have been no substantive change to the articles, although alternative rock is a continuing genre and is evolving, and the content of the articles appears to be the same as when it was content-forked in 2007.
A zombie, in folklore and horror fiction, is an undead being that should be dead but is walking. A zombie page is likewise a Wikipedia page that should have been deleted, but has avoided death in some questionable way, or has been brought back from the dead. In a subsequent deletion discussion, the use of silver bullets may be proposed, because they are often the preferred method of killing a monster. Silver nitrate, which is a caustic salt of silver that was previously used by surgeons to disinfect wounds and is occasionally used by dentists, may be the appropriate way to appropriate way to salt the earth against a future re-occurrence.
Portal:East Timor has been categorized since May 2019 as an abandoned country portal. This is accurate, because it appears to have been stillborn in 2009. It was "restarted" in January 2019 by User:The Transhumanist, and then reverted to the curated version in May 2019 by User:BrownHairedGirl. The portal was created in 2009 by [[User:Wiki Raja] who last edited in 2017. Special:PrefixIndex/Portal:East_Timor shows two articles (one article and one biography) were ever created. The portal has 10 daily pageviews (in the first half of 2019), which is little more than noise; the country article has 2753 daily pageviews.
- Weak Delete as per User:ToThAc and User:BrownHairedGirl.
- The portal is still underviewed. In the third quarter of 2019, it had an average of |16 daily pageviews, little changed since the first six months or the first two months of the year.
- The maintenance of the portal has consisted of edits to the portal skeleton by Northamerica1000, which do not even affect the forked content, and the forking of new articles, most recently multiple biographies, by the portal maintainer. The articles include are content forks of the first paragraphs of biographies of persons, some living, some dead. Because they are content forks, which have been demonstrated to be an obsolete form of maintenance, any change in the status of the people, such as death of formerly living people, will not be reflected. The "maintenance" does not update anything. It only expands the portal, like blowing more helium into a balloon.
- The "news" stories include the result of the 2019 World Series of baseball, which was won by the Washington Nationals. The only relevance to Minnesota is that the last Washington, DC team to win the World Series, the championship of baseball, moved to Minnesota in 1960. The team that is now in Minnesota is only a historical footnote, not the current champion.
- This probably isn't the least maintained US state portal. It may be the one that has the most pseudo-maintenance or the most interesting form of pseudo-maintenance.
- Delete as per User:Mark Schierbecker with high explosives and fire, but without prejudice to a new portal as described below. A jungle of subpages does not necessarily mean that a portal should be kept. It may only mean that one can get lost in it. In the first half of 2019, the portal had an average of |42 pageviews, which is moderate for portals, but is not good compared to 1434 for the head article. (Besides, the viewing of the head article is not the best measure of interest in the topic, because readers don't always look up weather, because they look up specific types of weather.)
- Special:PrefixIndex/Portal:Weather/ leads the unwary (or wary) editor into a maze of subpages, which includes 157 Featured Articles, 42 Featured Lists, 23 Featured Pictures, 382 Good Articles, maybe 366 On this day entries (I didn't count, but it does include Feb 29), maybe 1098 On this day lists (I didn't count, only multiplied 366*3), 32 selected pictures, 13 biographies, and 29 selected articles.
- The advocates of portals have correctly observed that there is more than enough material to support a portal. There is more than enough material in which big cats can hide, and eat the unwary editor, and in which vandalism goes unnoticed. In its present condition, so fix it isn't feasible, and requires so slash and burn it first.
- This portal should be deleted in its current form, without prejudice to a new portal that does not use content-forked subpages, and that has a maintenance plan.
