Sorry. This page was an overzealous creation on my part. Please, by all means, delete. -- dpen2000

IMHO, he meets the minimum requirements for notability and has a place in the encyclopaedia. I wikified the entry. — David Remahl 17:21, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Racing Kings is now is his most played (and famous) variant

[edit]

Since Lichess has support for the racing kings game, over three million games of Racing kings have been played; mind you, most of the games played are bullet and blitz games, but we have over 50,000 games played by 1600+ players at rapid or slower time controls. An order of magnitude more games of racing kings have been played than games of Alice Chess or any of Patron’s other many inventions. This in mind, I’ve added a note that this is one of his best known (or, should I say, most played) games. Samboy (talk) 05:18, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the book has an entire chapter in this book: Pritchard, David. Popular Chess Variants. Ishi Press. ISBN 978-4871870634.

Availability of V.R. Parton's texts (full collection)

[edit]

Parton wrote nine booklets (one is in two parts), all simply typewritten and crudely illustrated (or left unillustrated) between 1961 and 1974. While he did not have the good fortune to see his works published, which they so deserved, as a specialist of chess variants and their history, I have endeavoured to correct that omission. I have carefully reproduced Parton's integral work, word for word, and designed several explanatory diagrams to support the original text. Some hard to find testimonies and correspondence are included to help better understand the complex personality of this inventor of games. This is available in a single volume book now. Thx. Yes, have already ordered and have the book, very nice work! p.s. After carefully diagramming and setting up Circum Morus for a trial, couldn't get it to work at all (make a first move that made any sense, or any other move; even setting up all the initial pieces was difficult). Is it possible Parton never test-played this game? Or? Respectfully, --IHTS (talk) 02:13, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
