) down to the level of balanced and dispassionate encyclopedic prose (composed from mundane, straight-shooting, words and phrases, so no "fostered" [try x conducts y], no "focusing" [does it do something important in addition to what it is "focusing" on?], no "intricate ... dimensions" [maybe politics, history, and culture of Europe?], no "played a pivotal role" [try x did y] Thanks in advance.
