This

[edit]

This article is complete rubbish as far as the title goes.

It is known as either: "scatter light optical imaging" or "scatter field optical imaging" or "scatter ..... optical imaging" Slicky 21:33, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Scatter field optical imaging is very different from the neuroscience diffuse optical imaging but 7Piguine is right that the article is general and in my opinion should cover pretty much every type of optical technique from microscopy to photography methodsAzurex120 (talk) 16:51, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

ack: "Optical imaging" is far more than what is described here. It includes techniques from ordinary microscopy to single molecule fluorescent or CARS microscopy. --7Piguine (talk) 07:39, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Visual

In order to assist those not familiar with the main structures in the brain, providing visual aids or pictures may be helpful and serve as an asset to this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wood.ashleyb (talkcontribs) 14:46, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nomenclature

[edit]

I would slightly take issue with the comments above (azurex120 and 7Penguine), in medical imaging circles "optical imaging" is used to describe a set of macroscopic techniques using IR visible and (maybe) UV wavelengths (see http://www.auntminnieeurope.com/index.aspx?Sec=sup&Sub=mol&Pag=dis&ItemId=610944&wf=902) . This is unfortunate nomenclature since I can see that to people outside medicine the term would seem much wider and include microscopy (even photography and videography?). Perhaps the heading of the article should be modified to "Clinical Optical imaging" or "Medical Optical Imaging". I completely agree with Ashley Wood that some illustrations would greatly improve the article. The article should also be expanded considerably, but i' afraid I am not knowledgeable enough in the field to do that myself.Squid57squid (talk) 13:27, 27 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the title but this and related articles need tidying up Billlion (talk) 21:29, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
