Famous Equestrian Artists Section
[edit]Would it be appropriate to start a section in this article linking it to some of the articles on well known equestrian artists? Eg Alfred Munnings and George Stubbs etc..? -Hunting dog (talk) 07:26, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- Also should more images be added to the gallery section, like say [1]? Or is gallery deliberately kept small? -Hunting dog (talk) 07:38, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
- It's a good idea to expand the article and wikilinks are always helpful (though endless lists are sort of discouraged in wiki, they prefer narrative section. IMHO, though, It's a BAD idea to create a gallery at all (wikipedia guiedelines discourage galleries as a rule), the appropriate thing is to create a link to the wikimedia commons category that has all the horses in art images. I like what you have done so far. The other thing to think about is noting American west artists who did a lot of equestrian art, such as Frederick Remington and C.M. Russell... just a thought. - OK, I was taking the rather easy lazy way of adding the wikilinks. I'll try and compose some text that incorporates mention of the artists by genre. Sections on Military, Racing, Hunting, American West & Rural Life subjects should give me somewhere to mention everyone I'd like to. Point about gallery noted - will try and find appropriate part to link to instead. Thanks, Hunting dog (talk) 06:41, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- You are doing a good job, just keep plugging away! I like your idea for sections by genre. Montanabw(talk) 00:09, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Cheers, I've swapped layout over to include sections by genre now, obviously they are a bit empty at the moment, will come back to work on them gradually - but would be very, very happy for anyone else to add / alter stuff. I'm partially trying to contrive text to get wikilinks to the most notable artists in, unfortunately that means its not flowing very well at the moment.
- Also silly question - do you know if there is a 'correct' way of linking to rather than displaying a specific commons image? Instead of external link like "Knight, Death and the Devil"[2]?-Hunting dog (talk) 15:52, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
If it's in commons, you can just use the standard image tag as I have done here (at reduced size) and it should work. Montanabw(talk) 04:31, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

- Hello, there's an excellent source online about the subject --Tsaag Valren (talk) 08:58, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
A real work of art
[edit]This needs a section about Mark Wallinger's "A Real Work of Art", in which a racehorse became a work of art. Sources:
- Brittish Council
- Locus+
- Skysports
- Barry Allen. "Artifice and Design: Art and Technology in Human Experience"
- David Williams. "Performing animal, becoming animal".
