Suburbicon is an upcoming crime comedy film[3] directed by George Clooney and written by Joel Coen, Ethan Coen, Clooney and Grant Heslov. The film stars Matt Damon, Julianne Moore and Oscar Isaac. It has been selected to be screened in the main competition section of the 74th Venice International Film Festival.[4] It is also scheduled to be screened at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival before being released in the United States on October 27, 2017.[5]

Plot

A deceptively peaceful community hides a violent underbelly.[6]

Cast

Production

According to producer Joel Silver, Joel and Ethan Coen originally wrote the script for Suburbicon in 1986, soon after the release of Blood Simple.[7] In 2005, it was reported that George Clooney would star in and direct Suburbicon. It would be produced by the Coen brothers.[8]

On December 8, 2015, it was reported that the film was set to begin filming in October 2016, with Matt Damon, Julianne Moore, and Josh Brolin joining the cast.[9] Oscar Isaac and Woody Harrelson later joined the cast.[10]

On August 31, 2016, Noah Jupe and Glenn Fleshler joined the cast. Jupe would play Damon's character's son, while Fleshler would play a hitman.[11] On September 27, 2016, Harrelson said in an interview that he would not be in Suburbicon due to scheduling conflicts.[12] As of October 11, 2016, Suburbicon has begun filming in Los Angeles.[13]

Alexandre Desplat composed the film's score.[14] In August 2017, it was reported that Brolin had been cut from the film.[15]

Release

Paramount Pictures will release the film on October 27, 2017.[16]
