The 2020 Beirut port explosion took place on August 4, 2020.[1][2] Lebanese media reported the explosion took place at a fireworks warehouse, while other reported it was at an oil storage facility.[1][3] No immediate casualties were reported, but local coverage and statements by the Lebanese minster of health indicated many casualties are feared. The health minister has spoken of "many injuries and extensive damage".[1][4]
The explosion rocked central Beirut and sent a mushroom cloud of dust into the air.[5]
