Jo Arai (Japanese: 新井 丈, Hepburn: Arai Jō, born February 10, 1998) is a Japanese mixed martial artist who competes in Shooto. He is the current Shooto Flyweight Champion and Bantamweight Champion.
Mixed martial arts career

[edit]In his MMA debut, Arai faced Ryosuke Ogawa at Professional Shooto 3/21 on March 21, 2016. The match ended in a draw.[2]
Arai faced Takamasa Kiuchi at Professional Shooto 2022 Vol. 1 on January 16, 2022. He won the bout by first-round knockout.[3]
Arai faced Ryohei Kurosawa at Professional Shooto 2022 Vol. 3 on May 22, 2022. He won the bout by technical knockout via doctor stoppage in the second round.[4][5]
Flyweight and Bantamweight champion
[edit]Arai faced Junji Ito for the Shooto Flyweight Championship at Professional Shooto 2022 vol. 6 on September 19, 2022.[6] He won the fight by a first-round knockout to win the title.[7]
Arai faced Yo Otake at Professional Shooto 2022 Vol. 7 on November 27, 2022. He won the bout via first-round knockout.[8][9]
Arai face Yuto Sekiguchi at Professional Shooto 2023 Vol. 2 on March 19, 2023. He won the bout by unanimous decision.[10]
In his first flyweight title defense, Arai faced No. 1 ranked strawweight Shuto Aki on July 23, 2023, at Professional Shooto 2023 Vol.5. He won the bout by knockout in the 1st round.[11]
Arai faced Wataru Yamauchi for the vacant Shooto Bantamweight Championship on November 19, 2023, at Professional Shooto 2023 Vol.7. He won the bout by technical knockout in the third round to win the title.[12][13]
Arai faced Hiroya Kondo on December 31, 2023 at Rizin 45. He lost the bout in the second round via TKO stoppage.[14]
Arai faced Nkazimulo Zulu on September 29, 2024 at RIZIN 48, and lost the bout via technical knockout in the first round.[15]
